The Fairfax Park Civic Association held its third general meeting of the year on October 6. The board provided updates on association finances and administration, upcoming neighborhood events, communications, and the January 2027 board elections.
The association continues to work through its outstanding IRS tax filings, with a goal of bringing them up to date by the end of the year. The current checking balance is $1,488.95, and four new members have joined since the previous meeting. The board also encouraged residents to read a newly completed history of the Fairfax Park area, which is available on the FPCA website and Facebook page. The board is also working to improve neighborhood communications and develop more sustainable ways to reach residents beyond email.
Several upcoming community activities were discussed. The neighborhood yard sale is planned for October 17 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., although participation will determine how widely it is promoted. The board also finalized plans for a family-friendly Halloween gathering on October 31 from approximately 1–3:30 p.m., featuring a costume parade, balloon artist, apple cider pressing, temporary tattoos, snacks, music, and informal socializing.
Looking ahead, the January 2027 elections will require new volunteers for at least the secretary and treasurer positions. Residents interested in serving on the board are encouraged to get involved. The meeting concluded with thanks to the board, volunteers, and residents who continue to support and strengthen the FPCA community.
